Meet Emily

      Hello, I’m Emily Thompson!

This path of mine has been a winding one. Over the last twelve years I’ve gone from being a children’s piano teacher, studying fine art, creative writing and psychology at University, supporting families as a nanny, working as a therapy assistant, teaching children and adults yoga and the joy of art, nature and imaginative play in an art gallery, to becoming an Occupational Therapist….

Finding Occupational Therapy

Qualifying with a Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney, somehow drew my meandering path to a logical next step as a therapist. I have a calm, compassionate and caring approach and am dedicated to supporting children and young people to meet their goals in thoughtful and simple ways that connect them to a loving, creative and enriching life where they feel seen and heard. Throughout my career as an Occupational Therapist, I have worked and trained in various paediatric settings within hospitals, schools, preschools and home environments including rural community health, acute adolescent mental health and outpatient care.

Founding Rebloom

For a very long time, I have had the vision of creating a high quality service which feels meaningful and fulfilling for children, young people, their families and social supports and their individual needs. From my experience, it is an immense privilege to work as a partner, ally and advocate for a person in their healthcare team. Founding Rebloom, allows me to do what I love best: collaborate with and empower people to participate in life and bloom and thrive in their own unique way.

Sharing Yoga

My interest in using yoga as an integrated modality in my offerings has stemmed from the influence it has had in my own life and the people I’ve shared it with to promote calm, self-awareness, community and connection to the natural world. I have undertaken yoga teacher training at a 200hr level and children’s yoga teacher training at a 95hr level. I am also trauma-informed and dedicated to helping people live in the present and create re-connection with their body in a safe and healing way.

One of my passions is making yoga inclusive and accessible to every body. This year I have had the privilege of teaching yoga to students at a day program on a weekly basis, while also integrating yoga in my sessions with children and their parents.

Wherever I find myself, my focus is on offering a holistic, inclusive, fun and empowering experience for the people I work with.

Ongoing Training

Ongoing training and workshops are integral to providing a well rounded treatment approach and expanding my knowledge in particular interest areas including trauma-informed care, nature based therapy, compassion focused therapy, positive psychology, sensory modulation, yoga, art and play therapy.

Thank you for reading my story. I look forward to connecting with you!
